I'm personally a fan of the "Let's Encrypt" certificate authority. Most people, even those that aren't very technical won't navigate to an HTTP site. They want to know that they are looking at a site which has at least some security associated with it. This is where "Let's Encrypt" comes in, because they make it easy for anyone to generate a SSL/TLS certificate for their site for free. Non-profits like this are what I love about the Internet, the handful of people that level the playing field for the little guy.
